Priscilla Walsen is the founder and publisher of The High Road Press, an independent publishing company dedicated to books that educate, engage, and inspire. Her catalog spans a wide range of formats—from crossword puzzles, word searches, cryptograms, sudoku, and coloring books to comprehensive educational workbooks covering readiness skills, mathematics, STEM, and language arts for learners from kindergarten through high school.

The philosophy behind every High Road Press title is rooted in Priscilla’s extensive background in education and instructional design. Early in her career she served as an Educational Therapist at the Switzer Center for Educational Therapy in California, providing individualized academic support to children and adults with learning disabilities. During that time, she was awarded a competitive “Equal Time” grant from Apple Computer—one of only three percent of proposals accepted nationally—to integrate personal computing technology into educational programs for learners with dyslexia and other learning differences. That grant-funded initiative, Project ComSkilled, became a model for technology-integrated instruction and reflected her conviction that the right tools, thoughtfully designed, can unlock learning for every student.

Priscilla went on to build a distinguished career in corporate training and instructional design, leading desktop applications training programs at major healthcare and energy companies and managing regional training centers across the western United States. She developed and delivered curricula on software applications, technology and professional skills—experience that sharpened her ability to break complex material into clear, learner-friendly steps. She also served as Technical Editor for a nationally published Microsoft Office training manual.

In 1997, Priscilla followed her creative calling and established SilverWear Jewelry, making and selling handmade silver and gemstone jewelry from her home studio. In 2012, she opened SilverWear Jewelry & Fine Craft Gallery, just off the historic "High Road to Taos" in Ojo Sarco, New Mexico, where she continues to design and craft silver and gemstone jewelry. Running her own gallery sharpened the entrepreneurial, marketing, and design sensibilities she now brings to The High Road Press—from cover design to content development to marketing.

Priscilla holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor concentration in Visual Arts from Princeton University and completed graduate coursework in Special Education at Utah State University. She formerly held Wyoming and California teaching credentials, and certifications from the Texas Education Agency in software instruction and training center management.

Whether she is crafting a playful puzzle book or a structured workbook designed to build foundational academic skills, Priscilla brings the same guiding belief to every page: that well-designed learning materials can change a child’s relationship with knowledge—and that the journey of discovery deserves to be joyful. She lives and works in the mountains of northern New Mexico.
